ICA Forum 2000 / Southern California
A presentation by Ruth Abrams, MA, MFT, conducted at the Southern California Regional IC forum, held in San Diego on Saturday, February 5, 2000. Ruth Abrams is a licensed psychotherapist specializing in chronic illness and pain. She has a private practice in southern California, where she works with men and women to help them incorporate the reality of illness into their lives, without letting it define the essence of who they are. In addition to her practice, Ruth has spent many years working with the mental health community to promote awareness and sensitivity to the issues of living with a hidden disability. She provides individual consultation and leads a bimonthly group for therapists, focusing on how to work collaboratively with clients who face these challenges on a daily basis. Ruth herself has lived with interstitial cystitis for almost 20 years.
