Grant Application

 ATTENTION IC RESEARCHERS! ICA PILOT RESEARCH PROGRAM DEADLINE: September 15

The ICA’s Pilot Research Program funds research in the following areas of inquiry:

  • etiology of interstitial cystitis
  • epidemiology of the disease
  • neurophysiology
  • serum or urine markers
  • potential IC treatment modalities
  • pregnancy and IC
  • pain management
Suitable applicants will be specialists with a particular interest in IC in the areas of urology, urogynecology, or pain management. ICA Pilot Research Program research projects are normally funded for one year, up to $10,000, and must be completed in one year.

 To apply for an ICA Pilot Research Program grant, please submit EIGHT collated copies of the research proposal. In order to be considered for funding, each copy of your proposal must include the following:

  • PAGE ONE: a cover sheet listing the researcher’s full contact address (name, academic degree, full address with zip, phone and fax numbers, e-mail address--if available);
  • PAGE TWO: a detailed budget;
  • PAGE THREE: an abstract of the proposal (make sure to include a title).
On subsequent pages, your proposal must also include:
  • your hypothesis;
  • your proposed methodology;
  • the estimated time required to complete a project—the projects must be completed within one year;
  • a short-version curriculum vitae of principal researchers, listing positions and any achieved honors;
  • a list of funding sources for current research projects, including those ongoing or completed in the last 3 years;
  • a list of other grants expected in the near future, with funding source(s) and title(s);
  • any relevant articles;
  • a self-addressed, stamped postcard, which will allow us to confirm receipt of your proposal.
There are no standardized application forms to fill out. Your application package must include EIGHT complete and collated copies of the proposal in order to be considered for funding by our Peer Review Panel. Please note that the ICA Pilot Research Program will not pay for costs associated with administrative overhead. One half of the total awarded sum will be provided to successful applicants when funding begins, and one half provided upon completion of the project. We urge researchers to keep proposals as concise as possible. If you have any further questions, please contact The ICA’s National Office at the administrative contact numbers below.

Please send all eight collated copies of your proposal to:
